Explore South Africa's history

An historical tour of The Capital

Pretoria 1 day 4 stops 6.3 hours All Season 465

ABOUT THIS TRAIL

This route will take you from the Voortrekker monument, a hulking granite remembrance of those who 'trekked' or travelled - against all odds - from the Cape of Good Hope to the 'Highveld' between 1835 and 1854. From here, pass the stately building of the City Centre to view the old South African Reserve Bank (now Ministry of Finance) and the statue of Paul Kruger, one of the many colonial era statues defaced in the 2013 university protests. Finally, a stop at the historic Union Buildings.
