When you come to Paris as a tourist you do not want to feel as one – certainly I did not want to when I first came here 3 years ago. This liberation of my spirit brought a totally different perspective of Paris but of Parisians as well. For me the most important part as a tourist, whenever I go is to feel as a local, I feel that everyone should do that in order to truly get to know the people, the culture and the place – maybe catch a little bit of the language as well. So – let us stop for a while going to places that are cliché and where we hear every language the world around us and mostly English, but now go to a place where the youth of Paris goes out and where French is expressed as the language of love, friendship, singing old French varieties and one or two revolutionary songs. The place is called Jussieu which is a prominent place where young people go out at nights, it is in the eastern part of the Latin Quarter in the 5th arrondissement – where there are a lot of old bars, old cinemas and old streets. There is a campus is of the Faculty of Science of Sorbonne University – so you will see a lot of students here as well. Jussieu is also famous for the cheap bars where French people like to get drunk – so with this tour I want to tell you where I learned to speak, breathe and love French – which places I visit that made me love Jean-Luc Godard, Aznavour, Gainsbourg and others and sing their songs or watch their movies with awe. This is how I fell in love with France.
