Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) was one of the greatest military leaders in the British Army. He is best known for victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, but his distinguished military career also consisted of fighting British colonial wars in India, and fighting Napoleonic armies in Spain and Portugal. Waterloo was the final battle of Wellington's military career. He entered politics and eventually became Prime Minister, but his tenure at the top of the British political system was less impressive than his military record. In this tour you will visit the townhouse of the Dukes of Wellington in Hyde Park Corner, as well as a number of nearby monuments dedicated to his honour. This tour is recommended for all history lovers.
